Job Description
Heart Medical LLC is seeking a detail-oriented, entry-level Biomedical Equipment Technician to join our equipment service and refurbishment team. In this role, you will diagnose and repair patient monitoring equipment, disassemble and inspect ultrasound systems, test diagnostic probes, and help maintain a clean, well-organized, and accurately cataloged parts inventory. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent biomedical engineering graduate or technically-minded individual to build hands-on experience with medical device repair, refurbishment, and quality control in a fast-paced shop environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair EKG machines and vital signs monitors to restore them to safe, fully functional condition.
• Disassemble ultrasound systems to inspect, clean, and evaluate internal components for functionality, damage, and reusability.
• Test ultrasound probes using diagnostic and calibration equipment to verify signal integrity, image quality, and overall performance.
• Catalog, label, and organize replacement parts and components, maintaining accurate records in the inventory management system.
• Clean, disinfect, and visually inspect refurbished equipment to confirm it meets resale-readiness and quality standards.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and functional testing on incoming and outgoing equipment.
• Document repairs, part usage, and inspection results thoroughly and accurately for each unit processed.
• Follow established safety procedures, including electrical safety and proper handling of medical equipment and components.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors regarding equipment status, parts needs, and any quality concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in accordance with shop procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply); equivalent hands-on experience or military electronics training also considered.
• Basic understanding of electronics, circuits, and medical device principles.
• Comfortable using hand tools, a digital multimeter, and basic diagnostic/test equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality.
• Good organizational skills and ability to accurately track parts and inventory.
• Ability to follow written procedures and technical documentation.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods in a shop/lab environment.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs, with assistance for heavier units.
• Manual dexterity for working with small components, tools, and precision instruments.
• Comfortable working with electronic equipment, including exposure to electrical components under proper safety protocols.
