Director of Finance Catallia Mexican Foods, LLC is looking for an experienced Director of Finance to join our team!
Purpose of the Role
Provide strategic financial leadership to support the organization's business strategy and long-term success. Lead financial forecasting and planning by analyzing historical financial and operating results, current business conditions, and market and economic trends to identify performance drivers, risks, and opportunities. Translate these insights into financial plans and recommendations that support sound business decisions, sustainable growth, and profitability.
Position Overview The Director of Finance is a hands-on leader responsible for the company's finance and accounting function. The Director will provide independent leadership while partnering closely with the Executive Vice President and other members of leadership on pricing, margins, financing, capital allocation, forecasting, and other key business decisions.
Success in this role requires the ability to understand what has happened, why it happened, and what it means for the future. The Director will analyze historical results and business trends to develop forecasts, financial models, scenarios, and strategic recommendations. The ideal candidate brings strong FP&A capabilities, controller-level accounting judgment, and cost accounting experience in a food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods environment. This leader must be comfortable in a small to mid-size company where priorities shift, resources are lean, and leaders remain actively involved in the work.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions - Partner with the Executive Vice President and Board on significant financial decisions, providing clear recommendations, escalating material risks, and supporting decisions related to pricing, financing, capital allocation, and overall business performance.
- Analyze historical financial and operating data to identify trends, performance drivers, variances, risks, and opportunities, and use those insights to improve forecasting and future financial planning.
- Develop and maintain financial forecasts using historical performance, current business conditions, operating assumptions, and anticipated market and economic trends.
- Partner with Sales, Operations, Procurement, and other leaders on pricing strategy, customer and product profitability, margin improvement, cost management, and investment decisions.
- Lead the annual budget process, rolling forecasts, long-range financial planning, cash-flow projections, and scenario analysis.
- Develop performance reporting, dashboards, and key financial indicators that provide visibility into business trends, risks, opportunities, and areas requiring corrective action.
- Translate financial and operating data into clear, practical recommendations for the Executive Vice President and senior leadership.
- Evaluate business cases and model the financial impact of new products, customers, equipment, capacity changes, capital investments, and other strategic initiatives.
- Manage cash forecasting, banking relationships, debt covenant reporting, insurance coordination, tax filings, and required regulatory or lender reporting, as applicable.
- Coordinate the annual audit, prepare supporting schedules, and serve as the primary contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.
- Assess and improve finance systems, reporting tools, workflows, and data governance to support accurate, efficient, and scalable operations.
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance and accounting team while remaining actively involved in critical day-to-day work, analysis, and deadlines.
- Provide overall direction and oversight to the finance and accounting department, ensuring priorities, responsibilities, and deadlines are clearly defined and effectively managed.
- Perform additional duties as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Progressive leadership experience across both financial planning and analysis and controllership/accounting, including service as a Controller, Finance Director, or comparable senior finance leader with direct responsibility for the accuracy of the books and the quality of forward-looking decision support.
- FP&A experience with hands-on experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and variance analysis.
- Food manufacturing or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience, with hands-on knowledge of standard costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing variances, and product margin analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to build budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, financial models, and scenarios and convert the results into practical business recommendations.
- Strong command of GAAP, financial statement preparation and review, general ledger accounting, close processes, reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Experience succeeding in a small to mid-size organization with a hands-on approach and a willingness to operate both strategically and tactically.
- Sound judgment and the ability to identify inaccuracies, irregularities, financial risk, and opportunities for improved performance.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP, accounting, budgeting, and reporting systems.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and through electronic means and to move throughout an office and manufacturing environment as business needs require.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry office materials weighing up to 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to perform work at a computer and review detailed financial information for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 or more years of combined accounting and finance experience, including responsibility for both planning and controllership activities.
- Experience improving an ERP implementation, cost accounting system, budgeting platform, or business intelligence reporting environment.
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or another relevant advanced credential.
- Experience supporting a growing manufacturing business.
